Pathways Into Darkness was released by Bungie Software in August 1993. It was billed as "a new adventure game for the Macintosh". However unlike other 'adventure' games in the genre Pathways was also a 'first-person-perspective shooter'. Pathways attempted to bridged a gap between 'puzzle solving' and 'kill or be killed' game play.

Clues for accessing and surviving many of the game's levels are obtained by interacting with non-player characters found as you play. This interaction not only provides essential game clues but when pieced together reveals an intriguing story.

A story of greed, treachery and... deception.

Sometimes I have the most horrible dreams.
Or maybe they are real. Do dead men dream?
